Why Haven’t You Seen Your Breakthrough?

Ruth had been working in the fields that belonged to Boaz – eating with him, talking with him. He had bestowed blessings on her and provided opportunities for her to have what she needed. With all this attention and time, she thought he was preparing to propose, but it hadn’t happened. She wanted a deeper relationship. She wanted to know that she and Naomi would be cared for and that their needs would be met. She wanted to be his wife.

When nothing she was doing was working or producing a deeper relationship with Boaz, she went to him and laid herself at his feet, showing her submission to him. She was laying down her will, her future, her body; she was giving it all to him. He would be her master.

He told her she had done well and acted wisely. She had not chased after riches or lusts, but instead had submitted herself to him. He revealed himself and his heart to her, but he then told her that something was in the way of their deeper relationship. He wanted it too, but there was a legal matter. She legally belonged to someone else. This was why his proposal had not already happened. The breakthrough she had been waiting on wasn’t delayed because he didn’t want her or love her, it was because legally he couldn’t. But now, now that she had submitted all to him and made her request known, he could ask for legal permission to marry her.

Why am I stuck?

Have there been times in your life when you wanted, when you needed, a closer relationship with God, your Master? Maybe you were worried about your future or just couldn’t reach breakthrough. Maybe there was something you knew you were meant to do, but it just wasn’t happening.

Let Ruth’s story be an example to you. Have you submitted all to Him? Have you laid yourself at His feet? Have you repented for following after other things, instead of Him? Ask Him to reveal if there are any legal rights that the enemy has over your life. Jesus is the intercessor that can take your matter to court and obtain your freedom. Stand before the Judge with Jesus as your advocate. Repent on behalf of yourself and your family for giving legal right to the enemy.

Giving your future away

You give the enemy rights to your life and future with your words and thoughts. Say things like, “I’m not smart enough, good enough, or brave enough. God would never use me like that. That kind of thing doesn’t happen to me. I would never move. I would never do that. We will always be poor. I’ve done way too many bad things for God to use me. We will never have what we need. God hates me. I don’t have the time. No one cares about what I have to say. I’m too fat, tired, dumb, poor.”

Speaking and thinking these things gives the enemy permission to invade your future and take from you. The enemy’s desire is to steal, kill, and destroy you – and he is great at it. The only thing that defeats him is the blood of Jesus.

Just like Ruth, you may be asking God, your Master, to provide for you. He is willing, but doesn’t have the legal right to bless you because you have said He can’t or won’t and continuously think about how you are unworthy of His love. If you have been praying for breakthrough and it hasn’t happened, this could be why.

It’s a legal matter

It’s time to take back your future and your blessings. Contend for your breakthrough! Don’t lay down at the feet of the wrong master. You may feel like you have done all you know to do. You have been working His fields, harvesting His crops, but your bags are still empty. You have been sitting at His table, communing with His people, yet your plate has not been filled. You haven’t received breakthrough. It could be a legal matter.

Just as Boaz went to the other kinsmen and received clearance to marry Ruth, Jesus must go to the courts to clear the way for you. There are others claiming they have a right to you and your future. There is another man saying you’re his wife. You have his last name and didn’t even know it. Spiritually, you have given yourself away with your words, thoughts, and actions.

To gain your freedom, you must first repent for believing and claiming these lies. Unbelief, fear, and unworthiness are all plans of the enemy to keep you from reaching God’s will for your life. “God forgive me for believing these things. Forgive me for claiming these things with my words. Forgive me and all those in my family before me that didn’t believe in Your goodness. I now claim that my future and the future of my family belong to You Lord. Through the blood of Jesus, we take these legal rights back and place them in Your hands.”

Breakthrough

For Ruth, this was what was holding her future back. After this, everything broke open. With the legal rights, Boaz could now marry her and redeem the inheritance of the dead. She went from gleaning the field to owning it. When you speak life and not death, when your words are filled with faith and not doubt, when you claim your land for God instead of allowing the enemy to infiltrate it, then, then your future will break open! Then marriages will happen, fields will be white with the harvest, babies will be born, and dreams fulfilled!

Lay yourself at His feet. Your submission will lead to your breakthrough.

  1. I love this:

The reality, and one I am personally exploring, is giving our absolute will over to God’s will and care for our lives. Without hesitation, without holding back, or without relying on our own autonomy and independence. In all things, seeking His wisdom.
    Thank you for sharing this.

    1. Yes! That complete oneness. And when you think you are there, the Spirit shows you another space that needs to be turned over. Thank you Timothy!

      1. You are welcome. This is why I have come to believe that spiritual growth is the means where we move from faith to faith and grace to grace.

  2. This is the way I feel all the time we will never have our own house like I have prayed for I get upset and frustrated at how people can have so much and we can’t have nothing. Just remember me when you pray.

    1. Focus on getting legal rights back to that house. Imagine that the enemy has the keys to your house. What would need to happen in a court with God as the Judge in order for you to get those keys back? Do you need forgiveness? Do you need to take authority over certain lies? Do you have jealousy in your heart? Spend some time with God talking about these things. I will definitely be interceding for you and testifying on your behalf.
